Sphere: Related ContentI don’t get fired up about any professional sports but hockey. This could be because I’m just not a sports nut, but it could also be that I only have room in my heart for one miserable Washington, DC sports team. The Capitals. This was supposed to be a great year. All the excitement before the season, a true superstar on the roster, another great rookie coming on board… And yet here we are, with the caps at dead last in the entire NHL.
I think this picture, from ESPN’s page for the Capitals says quite a bit about what the problem is.
They need to get rid of Glen Hanlon. Actually, they need to start with George McPhee. The two of them haven’t put together a team capable of winning a playoff series in a decade. Hell, they can’t even seem to get to the playoffs, and with a start so far of 6-13-1, this year won’t be any different.
I went to the game last night and while I love watching hockey, it was painful to watch these guys look like amateurs for 60 minutes. The only players playing with any heart or conviction don’t get any support from the other guys. Just sad.
Sphere: Related ContentJust like the election process, the holiday advertising starts earlier and earlier every year. I stopped into Starbucks on my lunch break, and they’re already on the holiday menu! This is good, because I thoroughly enjoy the dirty eggnog chai latte I confuse baristas with this time every year (chai latte w/ eggnog and espresso shots) — but it was Halloween just last Wednesday!
