Recent Bookmarks (correcting bad feed issues)

I installed a new plugin to help with the formatting of the Daily Links posting I have set up from my del.icio.us feed. It immediately screwed up my twitter notifications, as somehow it changes the title after the permalink is created. Thereby giving my twitter followers http://www.ryptide.com/2007/08/23/links-for-2007-08-24/ instead of http://www.ryptide.com/2007/08/23/bookmarks-for-08-24-2007/ which is correct (well, was correct before I removed it and replaced it with this one. That means the reader hits an incorrect link and gets a 404 page. Smooth.

Anyway, for anyone interested, I’ve taken all the links that have now been posted a few times, and am making one post from them instead.

I will probably get rid of this daily posting, and dump it into a sidebar widget of most recent bookmarks instead of a daily blog posting. Mostly because my blog pretty quickly becomes a place to read my feeds rather than what little commentary I actually have, and there is my tumblelog for that if that’s what both my readers are after.

A note for both of my readers

If either of you have an iPhone, you’ll be happy to know that RypTide.com is now especially compatible with the device, thanks to ContentRobot’s iWPhone WordPress Plugin and Theme.

I can’t find anything I’m absolutely in love with, though a couple are pretty close. I’m probably going to have to wind up developing my own. Good times. After a couple quick changes, I’ve gone back to a modified Hemmed.

Update: I’ve switched to K2, which appears to be quite a bit more flexible in terms of styling things, supports widgets, etc.

And we’re back… Sorta

Well, I sort of half-promised a major overhaul, and that is sort of what we have here. I grew rather bored with maintaining, coding, removing comment spam on and generally doing much of anything with the old ryptide.com. So, this is the new and improved ryptide.com, featuring a shiny new WordPress install with lots of features I would have otherwise had to write myself — which is fun, but not when you tend to keep as busy as I tend to keep.

Everything is still in flux, and some things are completely down (for example, syndication to livejournal). Watch this space in the coming days and weeks and I should have everything (or everything I feel like continuing to deal with) back up in no time. For an immediate fix (because I know both of my readers just miss me so), you might check out my tumblelog, various sundries. I’ve been posting there like mad lately, as “microblogging” seems to be more my speed for the most part than very wordy posts.

As far as look and feel, I’m currently using a slightly modified version of the Hemmed theme by Charlie. Eventually, I’ll hash out my own theme, because I really don’t particularly enjoy using anyone else’s out-of-the-box solution for layout, no matter how cool it is — and to Charlie’s credit, this one is pretty cool.

Also, I’m working on getting a dedicated site up and running for my music stuff, which will reside at ryptidemusic.com. I do have a couple of mixes over on my Virb page, for your listening pleasure. Check them out. I’m working on a couple new ones at the moment.

I guess that’s all for now. Now off to do some laundry and code some more.
