Nevermind

So I was going to start blogging on Tumblr rather than my WordPress install I have here on my own domain, and I had decided to point ryptide.com over there.

Over the past couple of weeks I’ve seen that Tumblr is occasionally (frequently) pretty unreliable. What drew me to use it was the neat syndication and social aspects. I could attach it easily to my Shared Google Reader items. I could syndicate Flickr, and my Instagr.am shots.

Unfortunately, none of that actually works reliably, for me. The last updates on my tumblr blog are Instagr.am shots that also got sent to Flickr. From three days ago, although I’ve shared some stuff on Google Reader since then.

So, I’m just going to keep blogging here, and work on getting those syndication points working at ryptide.com. I’ll still keep the Tumblr blog open because some of the social aspects are neat and it is easy to fire off a quick post over there.

RypTide.com Is Moving

In the coming days, I’ll be moving the blog over to tumblr. WordPress is great, but it is much, much more than I need.

My first video blog

Last night I decided I’d try this whole vlogging thing (Yet another obnoxious web word. Like “blogosphere). Here’s my first video.

I’ll get around soon to getting this to embed easier, so I don’t have to record, post to YouTube and embed here, etc. There are some video plugins for wordpress, so I’m sure I’ll find something. I’m using PodPress over at ryptidemusic.com. I think that will support video so maybe I’ll try that.

In related news, I’ve been playing around with Jott lately, and I’m hoping I can get some neat stuff set up with that. I’ve already got it talking to my Remember The Milk and Twitter accounts, which should be neat when i get around to using it more.

Argh!

Apparently, the plugin I was using to give me statistics about who is reading my feed and what links they are clicking isn’t working. I’ve removed the plugin now and hopefully this new post will reset things in the feed.

iPhone Compliance

I’ve turned off the plugin I was using to style the website automatically if viewed from an iPhone. It was screwing with the caching, caching the iPhone style if that happened to be the first User-Agent that hit the page. Not good.

So, I’ve turned it off and I’ll do some testing and tweaking to get the experience in line with happy iPhone browsing. iPhone really keeps styles very nice anyway, so it should be no problem.
