Exploits of a Mom
Loves it! xkcd is one of my favorite web comics.
Now back to catching up on my TV downloads. Finished Season 2 of Rome, nearly caught up with The Daily Show, The Colbert Report and Kitchen Nightmares.
Also tapered my earlobes back out to where they were a while back. I’ll have to take them out or wear smaller jewelry in client-facing professional situations, but I’ve missed the larger jewelry.
I’m trying to think of a good domain name for a great site idea I’m working on with some friends. This is challenging nowadays. I remember when I bought ryptide.com ages ago, I paid a great deal more than one does nowadays, but I could basically have my pick of anything. Had I been a wiser man, I would have pounced on several more and sold them at a premium later.
I think I’ll sleep soon.
This would be great in a motorcycle jacket, jeans and gloves.
Dropped my MacBook Pro off at the Genius Bar to have the optical drive replaced. Looks like the laser for burning CDs crapped out. Burns DVDs just fine, and reads everything, but no CD burning. I’m under warranty so that’s no big deal. Just annoying. Hopefully I’ll be able to pick it up on my way home tonight, but if not I can just get it tomorrow.
Was going to be working at my cater waiter job tomorrow night, but the event was canceled. Now I’m free! Wish I’d known that when people were buying tickets to the Capitals home opener. Looks like I’ll watch it on television instead. Not nearly as cool, but much much cheaper. There’ll be other games. A six pack from a liquor store in Baltimore is cheaper than a single beer at Verizon Center, so I’m sure I’ll get over not being there, even though I haven’t missed a home opener in a few years.
I recorded my set on Wednesday night at Beyond, and posted that over at ryptidemusic.com. Check it out!
Now back to work. Got some stuff I need to finish today. Then begins the three day weekend!
Sometimes The Onion is right on. Okay, it is usually right on, but this one was particularly “on”
WASHINGTON, DC—In an unexpected move that shocked White House staff and stunned the nation, President George W. Bush arrived unannounced at the Oval Office Monday.
Bush, who flew in from his home in Texas, was greeted by security forces upon landing outside the White House, and quickly escorted through the building’s back entrance. Wearing a special suit-and-tie uniform intended to boost morale and show support for men and women serving in the Beltway, Bush entered the East Room at about 3:30 p.m. and addressed a bewildered but enthusiastic crowd of staff members.
I installed a new plugin to help with the formatting of the Daily Links posting I have set up from my del.icio.us feed. It immediately screwed up my twitter notifications, as somehow it changes the title after the permalink is created. Thereby giving my twitter followers http://www.ryptide.com/2007/08/23/links-for-2007-08-24/ instead of http://www.ryptide.com/2007/08/23/bookmarks-for-08-24-2007/ which is correct (well, was correct before I removed it and replaced it with this one. That means the reader hits an incorrect link and gets a 404 page. Smooth.
Anyway, for anyone interested, I’ve taken all the links that have now been posted a few times, and am making one post from them instead.
I will probably get rid of this daily posting, and dump it into a sidebar widget of most recent bookmarks instead of a daily blog posting. Mostly because my blog pretty quickly becomes a place to read my feeds rather than what little commentary I actually have, and there is my tumblelog for that if that’s what both my readers are after.
