A friend of mine asked me to record a 90-minute mix for Funk The War, which is planned for March 19, 2008 to commemorate the fifth anniversary of the US invasion of Iraq. This mix will be the part of the soundtrack for bunches of students dancing in the streets of Washington, DC in a peaceful (at least I hope it stays peaceful) protest of the Iraq War.
Most of the tracks are edited in some way by me, on the fly by extending, adding breakdowns, glitches, sampling some of my own original loops, etc. Fun stuff.
Enjoy!
Edit: apparently, my syndication hosed this so the link wasn't easily available. Here's the link to the post in my music blog

As I just mentioned over on my music-only/promo blog, I’m playing at Beyond in Dupont this Wednesday night at 8.
For those following me on Twitter or subbed to both website feeds, I apologize for the double notification. I’m working on a good way to prevent that. In the mean time, you’ll usually get an update here if there is something important over there.
Woohooo!
Today is my Thursday. I work tomorrow, and then am off until July 3rd! I can’t wait.
This Thursday through Sunday, I’ll be at Gaian Mind Summer Festival 2007, which is basically the biggest weekend of my year. The weather is looking like it is going to be nice, with a 40% chance of showers on Saturday night. I’ll take those odds. It seemed to rain cats and dogs all weekend last year and I still had a blast.
Before I head out to beautiful Four Quarters, I’ll me making a stop at Beyond in Dupont Circle on Wednesday night, where I’ll be playing all the downtempo, trip-hop, deep house, bootlegs and mashups I can fit into an hour and a half between 6:30 and 8:30pm. Come check it out!
After GMSF, I’ll be headed out to Bethany Beach to relax in the sun and be buried in the sand by Elizabeth’s nieces and nephews… FOR A WEEK!! Should be good times. This is the longest vacation I think I’ve ever taken during my professional life and I can’t wait to get out of here. I’ve already finished the day’s tasks for my primary employer. Some stuff to finish up for a freelance client this evening and I’m basically all set. :)
If you’re into any of the following:
- Beer
- Rum
- Pizza (really yummy pizza)
- Trip-Hop
- Downtempo
- House
- Music of any kind
- Various Sundries
- Kittens
I am playing at Joe Squared tonight, from 10pm to 2am. Come by, have a beer and keep me company! Maybe even shake your ass a bit!
Here’s some flyers!
The US is arming Sunni groups who have said they will battle their former Al Qaeda allies. What could possibly go wrong?
WWDC starts today. Pretty interested to see what Jobs is going to talk about for ninety minutes. iPhone features we haven’t heard yet? New desktop-class machine? Mac Mini going away? New non-iPhone iPod? Lots of Leopard stuff? Ars Technica has their keynote bingo scorecard up, so we can play along at home.
Bush gets a hero’s welcome in Albania. Maybe they’d like to keep him?
