I feel somehow cosmically nudged by this news story about Capitals owner Ted Leonsis and a homeless man at Union Station, and the interaction between Henrietta Hughes and President Obama at the President’s townhall meeting yesterday in Florida.
So here’s what I want both of my readers to join me in doing this week.
- Do something really nice for someone less fortunate. It can be anything; Buy a meal for a homeless person or family; Join Kiva and give a microloan to a budding entrepreneur in the developing world; Have a conversation with a lonely senior citizen; anything. It doesn’t have to break the bank. It doesn’t even have to cost a dime.
- Report back.

I used to help people around my apartment complex all the time. The old lady who lived next to me I used to help her up and down stairs, get her mail, and take out her garbage. I also drove my neighbor to the hospital one night.
I helped some woman out with her van a few weeks ago at work here. She thought the battery was dead so I gave her a jump. Turns out she didn’t know that she needed her foot on the break for the car to start. Ugh!
Awesome! But you still have to do something this week. :)
