An open letter to iPhone Customers
… even though we are making the right decision to lower the price of iPhone, and even though the technology road is bumpy, we need to do a better job taking care of our early iPhone customers as we aggressively go after new ones with a lower price. Our early customers trusted us, and we must live up to that trust with our actions in moments like these.
Therefore, we have decided to offer every iPhone customer who purchased an iPhone from either Apple or AT&T, and who is not receiving a rebate or any other consideration, a $100 store credit towards the purchase of any product at an Apple Retail Store or the Apple Online Store. Details are still being worked out and will be posted on Apple’s website next week. Stay tuned.
We want to do the right thing for our valued iPhone customers. We apologize for disappointing some of you, and we are doing our best to live up to your high expectations of Apple.

Some folks are saying this was planned all along… Get folks riled up, then come out like a saint, etc etc… Regardless, this is freaking awesome. I wonder if we’ll be able to use the $100 in the iTunes store.
As a rule, Apple “gets it” — and that is why I consistently support them.
Heh, maybe I could figure a way to use the credit to buy a share of Apple, then wait until after Christmas and dump it ;]
Either way, win-win for Apple. It’s not a rebate, it’s a coupon. And nobody’s going to spend exactly $100.00. This after the whole NBC thing earlier this week, Apple’s PR department has really done fantastic work lately. Damn.
Exactly. It could be the most orchestrated PR move ever. I don’t care, because I’m getting $100 back. Yes it has to be spent at the Apple store, but I’m sure I can come up with $100 worth of product that I want from the Apple store. Possibly put it with another $29 and get the bluetooth earpiece. Or a wireless mouse. Whatever.
