Inslee to introduce Gonzales impeachment tomorrow. (via Think Progress - video behind the link.)
Rep. Jay Inslee (D-WA) is introducing legislation that would require the House Judiciary Committee and the House of Representatives to begin an impeachment investigation into Attorney General Alberto Gonzales, in the wake of his damaging testimony last week. The legislation reads:
Resolved: That the Committee on the Judiciary shall investigate fully whether sufficient grounds exist for the House of Representatives to impeach Alberto Gonzales for high crimes and misdemeanors.
Let’s see if this goes anywhere. My money is on nothing coming of this. Either the legislation won’t pass, or BushCo’s new-and-improved Executive Privilege nonsense will keep Gonzales protected. All we need is for one of these impeachments to wind up in acquital and the right will simply never let it rest.
At the very least, Gonzales should be disbarred, though that will likely mean nothing for his future, long term, as I’m certain Bush will take care of him.
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The United States on Monday announced military aid packages worth more than $43 billion (21.2 billion pounds) for Egypt, Israel, Saudi Arabia and other Gulf states in an effort to bolster Arab allies against Iran and others.
The United States plans to offer a $13 billion package for Egypt over 10 years and a $30 billion package for Israel over the same period, increases over previous military funding, as well as unspecified defence aid to Saudi Arabia and Gulf states, said U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice.
Great idea, folks. I mean, this region is just as stable as can be and should totally get some more weapons. And hey, who could possibly have an issue with us giving more money to Israel for arms?

Gotta love those Republicans. They sure represent modern Americans and certainly NOT Old Money. At least Ron (not a chance) Paul and John (bomb bomb iran) McCain “get it.”
